Ashamed
Scripture is full of people who poured out their hearts to the Lord, even the parts that weren’t all that perfect and sweet. David, the great psalmist got so honest and real with God. He wrote many songs from the place of brokenness, questions, and honesty.
I wrote this song when I was having some major breathing struggles with asthma. The promise that I will “run and not faint” in Isaiah 40:31 pertained to my situation in a very real way!
One of the most intimate things that you can do with a friend is be totally honest with them. Totally real. Even if my honesty with God is a bit messy sometimes, I believe that He loves it. Because He loves me.
lyrics
My heart is raw from weeping
My eyes are faint with tears
As I lift my heart up in my hands
To the only God who hears
He will not leave
No, He will not turn away
The desperate heart
Seeking His face…
And I will fly high on eagles’ wings
I will run again without loosing my breath
For the Lord is good to those who wait for Him
And I will never be ashamed
You said, You will seek Me
And You will find Me
When you seek Me with all of Your heart
